The «Deus Abençoe a África» Foundation is registered in Mozambique. The foundation exists of volunteers and aims its efforts at children (0-5 years) that are admitted to the Central Hospital of Nampula (Hospital Central de Nampula – HCN). The foundation runs a toy library in the paediatric department of the HCN, where hospitalised children can come to read, play, paint and get involved in other activities. The attending volunteers accompany the children in their activities and hand out a small snack (biscuits and juice). The children also receive soap on a weekly bases, with which they can wash themselves and their clothes.

To celebrate public holidays such as, 1 June (International Children´s Day), 16 June (Day of the African Child) and Christmas, special activities are organised for children and food, cake, toys and school materials are handed out. The foundation has been active in the HCN since 2007. In 2010 it started with similar activities at the Marere District Hospital and the Muhala Health Centre in Nampula.

The foundation aids vulnerable families in purchasing prescribed medications from private pharmacies when not available in the hospital´s pharmacy. It also hands out nutrient supplements and personal hygiene kits. The children that receive these benefits needs to meet certain criteria. The purchase and application of medication is accompanied by a medical doctor linked to the foundation. The foundation is also involved in giving dietary and hygiene education to parents/guardians. It is completely dependent on gifts and the work of volunteers.
